A condition in which damage to the trigeminal nerve (cranial nerve V) causes severe facial pain
The trigeminal nerve is one of the cranial nerves responsible for facial sensation. It is a mixed nerve with sensory and motor functions and is also called the fifth cranial nerve.
The trigeminal nerve splits into three main branches. Trigeminal neuralgia occurs when problems in the structure and function of the nerve pathway, such as blood vessels in the brain or the jaw joint, lead to nerve damage.
It occurs mainly in middle-aged and older women, with an incidence of about 4–5 per 100,000 people each year, and it is gradually increasing.

Causes of Trigeminal Neuralgia
Problems occur in the structure and function of nerve pathways, such as cerebral blood vessels or the temporomandibular joint, leading to nerve damage.
Symptoms of Trigeminal Neuralgia
Severe facial pain / Facial sensory abnormality
Masticatory dysfunction / Transient tic disorder
The pain that appears early on is often so intense that it is hard to bear,
and while it usually affects one side, it can also affect both sides.
